Terms and Conditions

These Terms and Conditions apply to your booking of The Balanced Man retreat. Please read them carefully as you will be bound by them.

1. Contract and Booking

The contract and services are provided by The Balanced Man. By booking a retreat, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions, which govern the relationship, cancellation policy, and limitations of liability. These Terms and Conditions affect your rights and designate the governing law and forum for dispute resolution.

2. Booking Confirmation

All persons wishing to make a booking must read and understand these Terms and Conditions. By booking with The Balanced Man, you accept on behalf of yourself and all those named on the booking to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. Confirmation of your participation does not necessarily mean that your trip is confirmed to run. Please refrain from purchasing non-refundable travel until you receive an email confirmation from The Balanced Man staff.

3. Age Requirement

The Balanced Man offers retreats and related activities to those 18 years of age and over.

4. Refund / Cancellation Policy

• If you cancel more than 60 days before the retreat start date, you may request a partial refund, less a cancellation fee equal to the deposit.

• All retreat payments become non-refundable less than 60 days before the retreat start date.

• In case of a natural disaster, the “act of god” rule applies, and no fees will be reversed.

5. Payment Plans

All payment plans must be honored once started. Any initial deposits or payments made by the Client serve as acknowledgment and agreement to comply with their outlined payment schedule. Deposits must be paid in full three weeks before the retreat start date.

6. Balance Transfer

Full and partial retreat payments can be transferred to another retreat within 6 months, provided you notify us in writing at least one month before the replacement retreat start date. A $100 deposit transfer fee applies, and you may only transfer your retreat booking once.

7. Pricing

All retreat prices are per person and quoted in USD. The Balanced Man is not responsible for any fees incurred due to currency exchange or fees charged by your credit card/bank for processing funds in another currency. The price of your retreat includes all component parts described within your booking confirmation invoice, except for travel to and from the venue and any items or services purchased during the retreat.

8. Medical Conditions & Special Requirements

You must inform The Balanced Man of any medical conditions, disabilities, or other physical or mental conditions that may affect your fitness to travel and participate, including medications you are currently taking. Failure to notify us may result in refusal of certain activities at your own expense.

9. Cancellation by The Balanced Man

The Balanced Man reserves the right to cancel any retreat for any reason, but will not cancel less than 15 days before the retreat start date except for unusual or unforeseen circumstances. When a retreat is canceled, you can either transfer your deposit to another retreat within 6 months or receive a full refund.

10. Travel & Health Insurance

The Balanced Man recommends that you obtain travel medical insurance covering personal injury and emergency medical expenses, including helicopter evacuation and repatriation. It is also advisable to extend coverage to include cancellation, curtailment, and other potential expenses.

11. Safety & Trip Enjoyment

The Balanced Man takes your safety seriously and partners with trained professionals. However, you are ultimately responsible for your safety. You must obey all rules and regulations imposed by The Balanced Man Retreat Leaders and Local Guides.

12. Liability

The Balanced Man is not responsible for improper or non-performance of services forming part of the Contract which are wholly attributable to your fault, unforeseeable acts of third parties, or circumstances beyond our control. In case of any injury or illness caused by negligent acts of our suppliers, our liability is limited.

13. Acceptance of Risk

The nature of the retreat is adventurous and may involve significant personal risk. You assume all such risks and release The Balanced Man from all claims arising from damages or injuries resulting from these risks. You must sign a RELEASE OF LIABILITY, WAIVER OF CLAIMS, ASSUMPTION OF RISKS, AND INDEMNITY AGREEMENT.

14. Severability

If any term or condition is unenforceable or void, it shall be deemed severed from this Agreement to the extent necessary to allow all remaining Terms and Conditions to continue as binding.

15. Photos, Video, and Content Creation

Photos or videos may be taken during the retreat. These images may be used in promotional materials unless you request otherwise in writing.

16. Data Protection

Personal information provided will be used to ensure the smooth running of the retreat and may be shared with relevant outfitters or suppliers.

17. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of Costa Rica, and any disputes arising from these terms will be resolved in Costa Rican courts.
